Martin Style A mandolin, 1951. $400.
Here's a Martin Style A mandolin from 1951. It has the typical
bright, uncomplicated tone of Martin bent-top mandolins
and blends well with other instruments in an ensemble. It
has recently been set up, restrung and inspected by a luthier.
Bent spruce top, flat mahogany back and curved sides. Mahogany neck and headstock. Rosewood fretboard. Inlaid pickguard. Original tuners, bridge, and Waverly cloud tailpiece. It is in good condition apart from the long crack in the treble side. The crack has been glued and is stable, but results in a reduced price.
Original chipboard case is present but in poor condition; I can supply a more recent chipboard case or possibly even a hardshell case. The sale of this mandolin benefits the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra. In excellent condition, vintage Martin A mandolins are fetching $800 and up. This one can be yours for $400 plus shipping. See more photos, call 425/772-0231, or for more information. 48-hour approval offered.
