Trinity College TM-375 Irish bouzouki, acoustic. $900.
Saga has been importing these Trinity College bouzoukis for 40 years now.
The instrument offers a very good balance of playability, tone, and affordability,
and is a respectable axe for stage and session work.
Bound, solid Sitka spruce top with round soundhole. Sides and bound back look like sapele or mahogany. Slim mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. Adjustable truss rod. Individual chrome Schaller-style tuners, 1-piece rosewood bridge with bone saddle, standard Gibson-style tailpiece. Appointments include 4-ply top binding and single-ply binding on the back, fretboard and headstock; 5-ply center binding strip on the back; MOP snowflake inlay on the fretboard and abalone Celtic cross on the headstock; and inlaid soundhole rosette. Hardshell case included.
Bouzoukis are commonly set up for GDAD tuning with octave string pairs, but this one has unison pairs (I can change that if you prefer). It's in good condition; there are light surface marks and signs of player wear, but nothing distracting. 26.5" scale.
I don't know exactly when this TM-375 was built, but it doesn't have the appointments of the current model (which has a simplified headstock inlay and a pickguard), so it's probably at least 10 years old. Serial number 07091110123. See more photos, call 425/772-0231, or for more information.
The MSRP for a new TM-375 is $1,295 with a gig bag, and the street price is around $1,000. This one has a nice hardshell case. I'll let it go for $900 plus shipping. 48-hour approval.
