Rono Kangster baritone

Kang
Rono 5-string solidbody "Kangster" baritone by Ron Oates. $7,500.
Emando.com is one of the few places you can purchase a Rono solidbody electric 5-string baritone mandolin for GDAEB tuning by Ron Oates of Boulder, Colorado. But this one is extra special.
Rono has crafted the “Kangster” to match, as closely as possible, the famous “Dragon” baritone he built for Michael Kang of the String Cheese Incident, which was Kang’s main instrument for several years. Solid mahogany body. Five-piece laminated neck (mahogany, maple, and rosewood) with 2-way truss rod; Madagascar rosewood fretboard, headstock, and tailpiece. The top layer of koa wood is from the same log used for the Dragon.
There’s a Kokopelli inlay on headstock and an eye of Horus design on the tailpiece. The Bill Lawrence pickups are from the same batch as those on Dragon. The purfling around the top edge consists of 132 pieces of abalone. Bound top and headstock; abalone oval fretboard markers. American-made controls, jack, and switch; Tun-O-Matic style bridge. Gotoh tuners; low, wide frets. Fully shielded control cavity. Hardshell case included.
$7,500 plus shipping. Rono's recommended string gauges are .050/.038/.028/.018/.011.
Rono does not take orders; he builds on spec, and I sell the instruments when they're available. Please if you'd like to be notified about the next one.
There aren’t many choices out there for players wanting to jump on the baritone bandwagon, but here’s a rare opportunity to own one from the pioneer who popularized the concept in our times.
