No-name 5-string. $1,250.
Here is an interesting and high-quality build from an unknown luthier. From the back it could almost be mistaken for a Jonathan Mann, since it features a 3-piece neck and through-body construction, but it’s not one of Jon’s (I asked). From the front there’s a bit of a Paul Reed Smith vibe going on with the deep asymmetrical cutaways. It’s a shame that the instrument doesn’t have a name, because it has plenty of other features to recommend it.
Mahogany comfort-contoured body and 3-piece neck with center maple strip. Dark red stained top with faux natural-wood binding detail. Ebony headplate and fretboard with beautiful abalone bird inlays. 15.25" scale length. Two twin-rail humbuckers with a 3-way switch. Inlaid tone and volume knobs. Gold-plated hardware. Adjustable bridge and string-through-body design. Killer tone when plugged in, although the output in terms of volume is on the low side. Overall very good condition with no major bumps or bruises.
If I knew for sure who built this, it’s likely I’d be asking a lot more for it. I think it’s of tremendous quality and more than adequate for stage or studio. Standard gig bag included, or upgrade to a custom gig bag or hardshell case. See more photos, call 425/772-0231, or for more information.
