John Abercrombie
Jazz guitarist Abercrombie apparently plays an electric mandolin quite often, but I've heard he tunes it like a guitar. He is among the numerous pro players who have used a Schwab, although that's definitely a Fender Mandocaster in the above photo. Here's a partial discography of recordings on which he plays electric mandolin:
  • John Abercrombie—Characters
  • Jack DeJohnette—New Directions
  • Jack DeJohnette & New Directions—In Europe
  • Collin Walcott—Grazing Dreams
  • Jack DeJohnette's New Directions—New Rags
    (must be unavailable/out-of-print/not on CD)
  • Gateway II
(electric mandolin isn't credited on the Web page, but it's on the LP jacket)
