Ovation Adamas MM80-NWT. $2,200.
The Adamas MM80-NWT is an extremely limited-edition mandolin by Ovation; only 30 were made. As such, it’s the highest-end instrument of the U.S.-made Ovation line, which means it’s one of the best American-made acoustic/electric mandolins you can get.
Purpose-built as an acoustic/electric, it features Ovation’s Lyrachord® GS body with cutaway guitar shape and Quintad “T”-shaped spruce top bracing for superior acoustic response and projection. The top is made of 2X2 carbon fiber twill with a 4mm birch core. 13-7/8" scale. Natural walnut top binding and classic Adamas hardwood “epaulets”; smooth-playing walnut neck with soft “V” profile; bone nut; black acrylic heel cap. 21-fret resin-impregnated walnut fretboard with maple dot inlays and 1/16” white side dots; a rear loading wide walnut bridge with OCP1-K pickup embedded in a compensated ivory saddle; Schaller MG3 gold tuners with pearl buttons, and the Ovation mandolin pickup for loud, clear amplified tone. "Direct out" preamp with 1/4-inch jack; there are no onboard controls.
Near mint condition, with no sign of being played. Hardshell case included. When introduced in 2013, the MM80-NWT listed for $4,999, but you can get it here for less than half of that.
