Fender
2004 Fender FV-1 electric violin, 4-string. $600.
Here’s a quality electric violin with some nice features at a budget price, for someone looking to get into electric playing without breaking the bank. Made in Korea, it’s s reissue of Fender’s original midcentury violin design.
Chambered body with solid spruce top and maple back and sides. Ebony fingerboard; piezoelectric bridge. Tailpiece includes fine tuners; chinrest installed. The custom shoulder rest includes two shafts that insert into holes drilled the back—so the rest won’t collapse or fall off (preventing a common violin horror story). Serial number KD04120065.
Finished in white that has aged to off-white; onboard tone and volume controls; good condition with minimal wear and no damage. I think the FV-1 has been discontinued—at least, I can’t find any new ones floating around. Includes a bow and a custom hardshell case.
