He claims to have shown Jimi Hendrix how to play guitar behind his back. Luttrell never gained the recognition that Hendrix did, but on the other hand, Luttrell lived into his 70s.
     Jimmy's guitar/4-string mando doubleneck was built for him in 1952 by California luthier Wesley Elmore. It was stolen in 1955 in Albany, California, and returned 50 years later.
