John writes: "I've had seven albums out on various labels over the years. All feature a 1918 Gibson A with a Shadow pickup, played thru a Roland amp or acoustic." But on 1995's The Cherry Electric (recently reissued), John primarily used a red 1957 Fender 4-string electric.
