David, who passed away in February 2007, was an acclaimed UK builder of Selmer-style jazz guitars. He also produces mandolins, mandolas, and bouzoukis, which are available with onboard transducers. Owners of Hodson mandolins include John Jorgensen (Hellecasters, Desert Rose Band, Elton John's band) and Crazy Rhythm's Paul Hares. The mandolin pictured, built for Jorgensen, features a Macassar ebony back and sides. David also designed a solidbody mandola for Great Britain's Gordon-Smith Guitars. Check out the Hodson Web site.
