Hailing from Silver City, New Mexico, Orien builds mostly acoustic instruments. He reportedly served an apprenticeship with Bill Bussmann of Old Wave fame. This 4-string electric features a humbucker decorated with gold and mother-of-pearl; a solid spruce top and highly flamed maple back and sides with a transparent turquoise finish (strange, but beautiful in its own way); tortoiseshell binding on the back and front; tone and volume controls; and a truss-rodded neck.
