Formerly with New Grass Revival, Sam is an acclaimed soloist on mandolin and fiddle. His primary instrument, "Hoss," is a 1930s Gibson F5, but he also plays a resophonic slide mandolin and a Fender electric (pictured here). He moonlights as an electric guitarist in an R&B band called Duck Butter. Not to mention his performances with Lyle Lovett. Or Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
